Poland has adopted an alternative solution according to which the expected target energy saving value for the years 2021-2030, relating to undertaking measures aimed at improving the energy performance of buildings, should amount to 43 440.1 MWh.
The draft Energy Policy for Poland 2040 envisages the implementation of nuclear power projects. The first unit (with a capacity of ca. 1-1.5 GW) of the first nuclear power plant has been envisaged for 2033. Further five units are planned to be commissioned in subsequent years (by 2043).
Despite the huge disruptions associated with the global pandemic and the collapse in GDP, wind and solar capacity increased by a colossal 238 GW in 2020 – 50% larger than at any time in history.
The document covering five years’ time horizon plans for the years 2017-2021 (CIP) envisages 126 contemplated investment projects with a value of PLN 7.5 billion. As a result, 2700 km of 400 kV lines will be built, and 1500 km of 220 kV lines will be modernised.
Setting the threshold at the level of 33 % after 2022 is justified by corresponding regulations in other EU Member States and by the need to diversify the sources of natural gas supplies to Poland.
Almost 290 gigawatts (GW) of new renewable power will be commissioned this year, which is 3% higher than 2020’s already exceptional growth. Solar PV alone accounts for more than half of all renewable power expansion in 2021, followed by wind and hydropower. IEA. Licence: CC BY 4.0
